Gluten free diets are well known for their ability to heal leaky gut and to soothe digestion. Little known are the other ways that gluten contributes to chronic health problems, such as chronic fatigue, adrenal exhaustion, foggy brain, depression, autism, and so many more common maladies.
Gluten free products line the shelves of supermarkets and healthfoods alike, as public awareness of the problems associated with eating gluten become more widely known. Gluten consumption has been implicated in many cases of autoimmune disease, in particular hashimotos, an autoimmune thyroid disease.
I am on a mission to educate the masses about the amazing health benefits of adopting a gluten-free, whole foods, plant based diet. And you don’t have to become a hard core vegan to get benefits, although that’s becoming more popular as celebrities jump on the vegan bandwagon. Even our former president Clinton has recently admitted that he’s on a predominantly plant based diet.
Many people are jumping on the gluten free bandwagon yet few are doing it in the most healthy way possible. Many are simply substituting the wheat bread for gluten free bread, without reading the labels and realizing that it may be loaded with sugar, preservatives and unhealthy fats.
I believe the best way to go gluten free is “Green Gluten-free”! This means that yoru diet is high in fresh fruits and veggies, healthy fats and no preservatives, colorings or oxidized fats.
Reading labels is super important, as even if it says “organic” on the label doesn’t mean that the product is a good.
