Background:
Dr. Graham teaches a raw food diet and lifestyle called the 80/10/10 diet. The goal is to get 80% of your calories from carbohydrates–primarily raw fruit–and 10% each from raw, plant-based protein, and fat. While vegetarians and vegans have been around for a while, and the raw food lifestyle is becoming more mainstream, the 80/10/10 diet is relatively new. There are those who say that it has helped them with weight loss, reversal of chronic diseases and aging, as well as provided them with better energy, sleep, mood, and athletic performance.
Join Dr. Ritamarie and Dr. Doug Graham, both seasoned health practitioners and living food advocates, as they have a lively conversation. There is a lot of debate over what is actually best for balancing blood sugar and keeping you from the damages caused by excess insulin. Dr. Graham and Dr. Ritamarie will discuss the research and clinical experience that’s led each of them to teach things in a slightly different way, yet both get great results with their patients.
Doug Graham, D.C., studied nutrition, primarily to enhance his own sports performance, from an early age. In college, where he majored in Health and Physical Education, he took every nutrition course offered. Going through his chiropractic training, he again took every nutrition course offered, studying nutrition every year while going through school. Dr. Graham received a Doctorate of Chiropractic Medicine in 1983 from Life Chiropractic College, his BA in Physical Education, and is now retired from private practice after 20 years.
Dr. Graham has authored several books on nutrition, including “Nutrition and Athletic Performance”, and the best selling “The 80/10/10 Diet“. He has worked with many professional and Olympic athletes, and has supervised thousands of water fasts, averaging 3-4 weeks. He has given in excess of 10,000 presentations in his professional career. Dr. Graham is also the owner of Food ‘n Sport, home of the 80/10/10 Diet, based on the principles of Natural Hygiene.
Dr. Graham has served on the board of governors of the International Association of Professional Natural Hygienists and the board of directors of the American Natural Hygiene Society. He is on the board of advisers of Voice for a Viable Future, Living Light Films, Vegetarian Union of North America, and EarthSave International and serves as nutrition adviser for the magazine Exercise, For Men Only. Dr. Graham also oversees the 80/10/10 Forum. He has taught the Health Educator program at Hippocrates Institute, served as the “source authority” for Harmonious Living, and authors a column for the magazines Get Fresh! and Vibrance (previously known as Living Nutrition).
