Tip of the Week:
“Burst and Burn” Before Bed!

About 2 hours after your last meal of the day and at least 1 hour before bed, do a 2-minute burst of high intensity exercise.

This strategy helps you burn whatever sugar is still in your blood stream from your last meal, helps decrease insulin levels, and prepares the body for fat burning during sleep.

For more about Burst Training see our Featured Video above.

This tip is taken from our B4 Be Gone Program. Details HERE.

July 12, 2013

Hi Health-Seeker,

I sure hope your holiday weekend (US Independence Day!) was as great as mine.

My son was in a baseball tournament and I attended 5 games!  I have had to miss most of his games this season because they were out of town.

It was nice to relax and just watch his team play.

On Saturday, Scott and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary with massages, swimming and hot tubbing, then a surprisingly outstanding dinner at an interior Mexican place that had lots of vegetables and great guacamole.

I am now in California for a coaching retreat.

It’s always nice to be in a learning and growing environment.

This week’s radio show is a replay of one of my favorites, Adrenal Fatigue – Causes, Dangers and Cures – Encore Presentation.  It’s just the thing when you’ve had a potentially stressful week (see my Feature Article below to see why I’ve had to maintain my cool in the face of frustration).

And everyone will be able to take a big, deep, healing breath together because we’ll soon be opening a brand new program called Correcting Adrenal Fatigue and Exhaustion in just a few days.  We’ve nicknamed it CAFE, and you can get on the early bird list and get early access to extra bonuses here:

Correcting Adrenal Fatigue and Exhaustion Program (CAFE)

And in case you haven’t heard, July 11th is International Raw Food Day.

VITAL Solutions: Raw Food Remedies for Thyroid HealthI’ve joined with Karen Knowler, The Raw Food Coach, to create an incredible gift for you in honor of this “raw-markable” day!  I’ve contributed a give-away double-video and e-book package called VITAL Solutions Raw Food Remedies for Thyroid Health.

It’s one of 35 gifts you can access for free HERE.

Enjoy this month’s Zen-sational feature article on how to stay flexible in the face of frustration and then roll with the punches by making up my  yummy Cauliflower Nori Roll recipe.

Flexibility as a Health Key Revisited

I am a big fan of going with the flow.

Frankly, most of the time there isn’t really a choice about the things we tend to get all worried and upset about anyway.

Case in point…my website has been a mess for a few weeks.

technical difficultiesOur hosting company was unresponsive when we had a 2-day outage, so we switched companies.  The migration has been underway for a week now and many of our e-mails are MIA.  Blog pages are in limbo, and several links are temporarily misdirecting.

We have had this newsletter almost ready to go for a few days and it’s been held up because the feature article is MIA.

On top of it all, we have been training someone new to handle e-mails and that’s always a time-consuming task.

So instead of getting all upset about it, I choose to be flexible.

be flexibleBeing vibrant and energetic means you need to sometimes let go of things that are not serving you.

As a society we tend to spend too much energy fretting over things we can’t control, rehashing things, and retelling our bad experiences.

I declare my independence from useless worry and concern.

I choose to spend my precious energy on things that bring joy and vitality.

I choose to be grateful that there even is an Internet that brings us together.

When it fails at times, like now, I choose to trust that we will get it working again.

It’s just a matter of keeping my priorities in front of me and pushing a few dates around if need be.

Will you join me?

What worry do you choose to let go of today?
What are you grateful for?

I for one am grateful for my amazing team and my dedicated readers.

You’re truly a blessing in my life.

And I know you will understand if some of the things we have planned for you come a week later than scheduled.

With Love and Appreciation, zen

3 Most Commonly Overlooked Strategies for Solving Difficult Cases
Insulin Resistance Part 3 of 3

Insulin resistance – When you see someone with a large waist in proportion to hips, think insulin resistance.  While many people claim to understand insulin resistance, few understand how to truly assess and correct it.

It starts with a blood glucose meter, as I discussed here a couple of weeks ago:

Practitioner Corner: Insulin Resistance Tools for Helping Your Clients

There are specific patterns you can have your client strive towards. And once you get people in control of their blood sugar you can often reverse insulin resistance in 30 days.

For more persistent cases, a longer regime of sugar balanced foods and nutrients may be necessary, and more strict avoidance of sugar, even fruit sugar must be done. And for some, the key is in their genes.

I will be sharing a whole lot more in my 5-week course, the Insulin Resistance Practitioner Training, which begins August 14, 2013.

Stay tuned for our big announcement and an invitation to attend a free webinar where I reveal insulin resistance secrets your doctor never told you.

Cauliflower Nori Rolls

Here’s a light, quick, nutritious recipe that’s good for picnics or at home.

For people who may wish to avoid, but miss eating rice – the ground cauliflower is a good, filling, instant substitute. And cauliflower has its own natural vegetable sweetness.

These ingredients are also good for your mood, nerves, and sustaining your energy.

Ingredients:

  • 4 sheets raw nori
  • 1/2 head cauliflower
  • avocado, thinly sliced
  • any of the following vegetables, grated or sliced in long thin strips: carrots, cucumbers, celery sprouts

Directions:

  1. In a food processor, grind cauliflower until grainy.
  2. Place a thin layer of cauliflower on nori sheet. Spread to edges, side to side, and within 1 – 2 inches from top and bottom.
  3. Place avocado slices and veggies in center of cauliflower.
  4. Roll the nori sheet, pulling tight as you roll it up, and place a few drops of water along the seam to seal.
  5. Cut with a serrated knife. Dip the knife in water before cutting.
